Deco Gift Bag

Deco Gift Bag

Hi Folks! Hope you are well. I was watching a film with my boys recently and got bored (I love most films but this one involved pure boredom!) So I started playing with some retired DSP to make something odd but functional.

I am now doing well at regularly uploading my YouTube videos and slowly but surely my views and subscribers are growing. I didn't start YouTube because I wanted or thought it would boost my business. I started in the hopes that another person, whether disabled or not, would find a love for a craft that I love.

It's so hard these days to find fun things to do with whole family that won't break the bank and will still be accessible with bad weather so I wanted to share crafting, papercrafting and Stampin' Up!

As you will notice from my videos I am extremely tight and refuse to waste any money. That means I still use things when they have retired, I like to make my supplies stretch and I like to make things that are unique but useful for busy families.

That being said, here is my tutorial on how to make one weird but I think, great gift bag! Recently I had a birthday to buy for and on her list was some lipstick, well it cost a small fortune so I wanted to make the packaging wow as I was skint after buying the £40 lippy!

Here is what I came up with -

Here is the YouTube tutorial - https://youtu.be/EXckg4t3IuQ

Measurements -

  • You need a piece of DSP that measures 12 inches x 6 inches. Thats 30cm x 15cm.
  • Score on the short side at 2 inches and 4 inches. Thats 5cm and 10cm.
  • Score on the long side at 3 inches, 6 inches and 9 inches. Thats 7.5cm, 15cm and 22.5cm.
  • Burnish all score lines.
  • On the short sides - cut up both lines until you reach the first score line on the long side.
  • Curl the centre rectangle on both ends
  • Then using tape stick the two outside edges together to make a curved arch as seen in the picture.
  • Then cut a small triangle out of both end rectangles on both sides
  • Then stick them together. See picture above
  • Then put your ribbon through the bag and tie everything together. The triangles you cut will naturally tuck into the centre arch you made.
  • Staple the sides together as seen above.
  • Decorate or leave blank, whichever you prefer.

Products I have used. As always anything retired will be replaced with a recommendation -

Stampin' Up! Wooden Hearts

Wooden Hearts

Hello crafters!

How is everyone today? Today I am bringing you a simple personalised gift idea. As always we are using SU products. I have also done a YouTube tutorial as well.

You can do this with either SU classic ink pads which are water based or alcohol based inks. For a sealer when you are finished use something that won't react with water based inks and if you are using alcohol based inks mod podge works great as well.

When I was cleaning out my craft room I found some wooden hearts I used to decorate and sell at craft fairs years and years ago. I decided to use them up with some SU products and made room in my craft room for some new SU stuff from the cattie that launched in June.

I used classic inks for my hearts in the video and I sprayed some hairspray on them to just hold the ink. Make sure you don't spray too close to the heart otherwise you will get some bleeding. The wood is untreated I use and has imperfections so I don't mind if my stamping isn't perfect.

I bought mine with 2 holes in it to pop ribbon through so that they can get hung. Then I added some embellishments to make the images pop along with wink of stella clear pen.

I used promarkers for the alcohol ones shown in the video. That was so I could seal them with mod podge and use them as coasters. SU do not have alcohol inks in a broad range of colours (they just have blacks and grey) so I used some contrabanned lol.

You can use  whatever you like really. This idea is just to get you started in thinking about SU products as more than 'just' cards or 'just' scrapbooking.

This is what I have done with them. So here is my video tutorial - https://youtu.be/bSOiF6swNCo
