Red Bugs and Red Wood

Red Bugs and Red Wood Card

Hello All! Here is the card I made for my mummy to give to my nephew (her grandson). This is similar to the one featured in Sam (Pootles) birthday blog hop.

Sorry for the poor quality photos, I was rushing to the hospital to see my husband so  tried to fit in work in very un-natural settings lol.

I used the same retired bug stamp set which I am now selling on eBay as I just wanted to use it for these particular cards.

I made this when staying with my husband in hospital so I am sorry for the bad pictures and probably forgetting sizes.

This card is A5. The acetate layer on the left is the same length as the card and 2" wide or 5cm.

Real Red layer is the width as the base and 3" wide or 7.5cm. I rounded two or the corners on the right hand side.

The white layer is 4" wide or 10cm and 6(ish)" long or 15cm (ish). I rounded the corners on that piece too.

I stamped the wood background stamp in real red and sponged all the edges. I used the easel from the painter's pallette stamp set and hand cut out the middle allowing the sentiment to be seen from the front and inside of the card.

I added bugs all over to gift the card some texture. I stamped the top sentiments and punched them out. They are attached with foam strips. I used the banners stamp set and masked some letter to spell out grandson.

I also added some retired gold wink of stella to the card as I am using that all up now.

Hope you like this card. Again Arsenal colours for my boy!

DIY Keyrings

DIY Keyring

Hello lovely people, today I am bringing you a REALLY easy, cute and sweet gift. I have made my own keyrings using photo keyrings. I think these look great. We have so many products that would look beautiful in one of these keyrings. They make great gifts and are a fab way for your loved ones to carry a piece of you with them.

This project is part of my #frugaldemo series. This project uses the smallest amount of scraps and supplies possible! I will be bringing you lots of projects with my #frugaldemo theme. If you recreate any of these please tag me and use the #frugaldemo tag so that I can see your wonderful creations.

Click here for photo keyrings like the ones I am using.

Instructions -

  • Whisper white background 4.5cm x 3.5cm that's 1.8 inches x 1.4 inches. I recommend you just draw around the insert that comes with your key ring and cut that out. It is the easiest as those tiny measurements are a pain at times!
  • Stamp on your sentiment in basic  black on both sides
  • Stamp your decorative lemon images
  • Add gold vinyl stickers
  • Put the background in the key ring and put it together
  • Add some ribbon to the loop to add some pop.
  • You can always add wink of stella to the images, I did this in one of mine but not the other.

  • Score on 2.5 inches, 4.5 inches, 7 inches that's 6.5cm, 12.7cm, 17.7cm.

This is a really quick, simple project but still thoughtful and useful for the recipient. You can dress this up or down depending on your preferences and whoever you are giving it to. I went really simple as I just wanted to show the basics of how to make it.

Be sure to keep watching as I have some more mini desk calendars with xmas theme and desk tidies attached.

Sahara Sand Swirly Card

Sahara Sand Swirly Card

Hello wonderful people! How are you all today? So this card is using a popular stamp set but one that I haven't exactly fell in love with.

This card is A6 which is 4" x 6" or 10cm x 15cm. This is my usual size for a 'small card'. DISCLAIMER - The baker's twine I have used has now retired so as always I will link a replacement product in our recent catalogue(s).

The card is stamped on directly onto the base, I used the daisy punch to make a shaker window with some retired sequins inside and some foiled acetate underneath.

I added some acetate into the inside along with a basic black bird and the daisy I punched out from the front. I added some acetate to the right side of the card and wrapped round some old twine in my stash. I also added some wink of stella into the centre of some of the flowers to draw in the eye.

If you stamp on the cardstock before punching it means you can use the daisy for the inside and that added touch brings the card together. I stamped the sentiments from the Lemon Zest stamp set and the flowers/bird is from the swirly bird stamp set. The punches I have used are listed below along with everything else I have used and links to my online shop.

I hope you like this simple but effective card. One layer but still full of volume and dimension!
